Slideshow here !!!!

This goes to the 3 ideas my group had to trailer as well as what our research into market audience showed us when it came to ideas

And here is the questionnaire we made for people to answer to get ideas for trailers.
Questionnaire.
This is the first time shooting anything and the idea of the a chase scene is very was both daunting and very fun to plan. The ideas we had were to have a equilibrium of the peaceful man walking along and this have something to upset the equilibrium and to make it feel like the chase was a lot more action packed then we could have made it. The idea we had was to make it feel like he was being followed and then keep the tension by the idea of feeling trapped. However overall we made a lot of mistakes that i feel that could be improved such as for the people chasing 'Keith' as we named him were walking i feel that at the time it seemed that a good idea but taking a look back i feel we should have had them running this is due to that the walking was very slow and made it look like Keith was just really paranoid. Also i think a good idea would to be change the music this is because the build-up was very slow and when the did hit it was to fast for this. I feel that we had done some more camera work such as shaky cam or some better editing what we could have done would be better. Also even though it is just a chase scene some minor confrontation near the start or end could have made it a lot better.

Analysis of a poster

This poster is very striking to the audience its very simple yet very daunting the size of the head and the color of red, white and black makes the audience feel very scared it gives a very powerful feel. the used of the red scaring on the face is also very frighting to the audience. The size the text and the way it is slanted points to the face, everything on this poster points to this poster and makes it stand out, this is what it wants for a horror film.

Magazine cover

Here we have a example from the magazine company 'EMPIRE' a very famous movie mag company that in this addition looks at the movie 'Shaun of the dead' a move that is very close to the sort of movie trailer i want to produce.

When we look close we see a lot of small things that do add a a lot of to how we view the magazine such as the 'EMPIRE' logo behind the lead character this gives the man more power then what we will first perceive but to counter this as it is a comedy we have the jokey headband from the tie. The use of blood is also having a affect of how we see shaun again, If you didn't know the film the blood would be questionable but then we see ICONS of the decade so these two bring conflicting ideas of of shaun being both a bad guy and a good guy. When it comes to the text we see a color scheme of white grey and red this color scheme is very modan looking as well as giving it a very polished look that makes it very easy on the eyes and gives the audience walking past an idea of buying it.

Feminism/The final girl

Women in media and in films and story telling have a very close relationship of exploitation. The way women are usually seen in media and horror mostly are seen as mostly either sex objects and victims to the often male antagonist. Its also these females that often overcome the obstacles to either escape or kill the man chasing her. And there are many reasons why its the females to escape over the males such as how the audience will connect to the characters as well as how you could market the movie to a wide mass market.

When it comes to the women in films we have two typical sorts, 'the bimbo' usually blonde ''gifted'' in some sense of the word and will be dressed slutty as well will be in a relationship with what we call the ''jock'' male character this will be a male and is often just the male version to 'the bimbo'. The other type we get is the 'Final girl' she is often seen as geeky and invisible to others and could be the main affection of the monster but will in the end live though out and will never die from what we see.

In the trailer ''Halloween'' we see the bimbo die within the trailer we see her very briefly but in that brief view we see her to be seductive trying to sleep with someone we can't see. This idea of the bimbo hitting on someone off screen backs up the point of how who she is sleeping with could be anyone. But what we see of the final girl we see a lot more of and what we see we feel the villan focusing on this is women.

Halloween is not the only example a perfect example is Jennifer's body  in short what we see is that the bimbo is the bad guy and the final girl is her focus point. Its this sort of view that shows us how the feminism can be subverted to make an entirely new point of view for films and media. And it is also in this film we see how the male gaze can affect the film, what we see is that this film despite being populated with mostly women it is directed to men just because of stuff like what megan fox looks like.

In conclusion when we see women in films we see many varieties of how women are portrayed such as the bimbo a possible selling point to entice men on something they may never have dont or watched before to the final girl a character who is the hope of the audience as well as a way for the common women to connect to someone int he film. But when it comes to the male gaze we see that perspectives change and what might have been a balanced film when catering to an audience changes to focus on the male mostly.

Propp's character theory looking at texas chainsaw massacre

When we look at characters in a movie we see repeating characters not in actors but how certain characters are written, there are 7 different character stereotypes  that are very broad but still present. The seven character are: The villan/antagonist- this character is for the hero to struggle against the hero, The donor- this character is to give the hero what he/she needs to be prepared to go against the villan, The helper- This one is to aid the hero, The princess-not always a women but this is the person who the hero ends up marrying, The farther- dies to give the hero motive to go the against villan, The dispachter he sends the hero off to his/her journey And the last character is the hero/victim this is usually the protagonist we follow  though out their journey.

When we look at Texas chainsaw massacre we see a lot of these characters show up, such as the villan is the man in the mask wielding the chainsaw, The victim and our protagonist is a very stereotypical victim of the helpless women someone who the male audience can feel the need to save and the female audience feel connected to. The father is most of the group that die that gives the victim the motivation to either run or fight,The helper. All these are here to give a story that we all understand from the point of character backstory this is to make it so they can send less time telling a story we already know and more time telling the story we went to go see of the man killing people.

Overall we can see that characters though out the ages never really change its only the setting we put them in and how they react to these scenarios. Not only can we look at TCSM but also at other films that are not even in the horro genre, And its not only films that are limited to this tv shows, books and even fairy tales where these theories started tell the story of these characters.
